How to fix water spots on an LA coating

Failure to remove water spots on a ceramic coating can result in degradation of the coating and premature failure. Follow these guidelines to effectively deal with water spots on a ceramic coating.

Act Quickly

As soon as you notice water spots on your ceramic coating, it is crucial to address them promptly. The longer water spots remain on the coating, the more challenging they can be to remove. Begin by thoroughly washing the affected area to remove any loose contaminants.

Gentle Cleaning

Next, use a foam wash like our Decon+ and a soft microfiber wash mitt or sponge to gently clean the water spots. Avoid abrasive cleaning tools, as they can damage the ceramic coating. 

Detail Spray Solution

If the water spots persist after gentle cleaning, use a detail spray such as our Quick Shine Nano Detailer. Allow it to sit for a minute before wiping.  If still persistent spots remain jump up to Fallout Iron and Contaminant Remover to go after mineral deposits.  This can also be used with a clay bar or mitt.

Polishing

For stubborn water spots that refuse to budge, you may need to resort to light polishing. Choose a mild polishing compound specifically designed for use on ceramic coatings. Apply a small amount to a microfiber applicator pad and work it into the affected area using gentle circular motions. Wipe off the residue with a clean microfiber cloth.  Apply protection like Crystal Creme or Hydrophobia Sealant to rejuvenate the affected areas.

Maintenance is key to prevent hard water spots.  Consider using purified or deionized water when washing and try to always dry off surfaces after cleaning.
